Curaçao license
Plain-language definition for casino players.
The Curaçao licence is the most common offshore licence for online casinos serving international (non-EU-regulated, non-US) markets. As of September 2023 the licensing framework moved from the old master-licence-and-sublicence model to direct issuance by the Curaçao Gaming Control Board (Curaçao Gaming Authority — CGCB/GCB) under the LOK law (Landsverordening op de Kansspelen).
Practically: a Curaçao licence permits worldwide operation except where local law prohibits, requires standard player-protection minimums (KYC/AML, responsible gambling tools, RNG certification), and offers a complaints procedure via the GCB's dispute service. Compared to UKGC or MGA licences, player protection is lighter — chargeback rights and segregated-fund guarantees are weaker. Always check the operator's registration number on the official GCB register before depositing.
